I own two of the 'state-of-the-art' video gaming systems, the Playstation 2 and the Xbox. I have had my playstation 2 for nearly two years now, but havn't been THAT impressed with it. First of all, the DVD player has trouble reading dozens of movies, Secondly, the gaming library for PS2 titles were TERRIBLE until a couple of months ago. Then, last year, I purchased an XBOX and havn't looked back. First of all, the graphics look a 1,000 times better than Sony's outdated Playstation 2, secondly, there are four controller ports to play against your friends, (You have to purchase additional accessories for the PS2 to have more than 2 players) Third, to save game progress on the PS2 you have to fork out LOTS of money for their VERY expenzive memory cards, (You can't use PSX memory cards for PS2 games) With the XBOX, you can save game data directly to the built in hard drive, and the load time is a LOT faster than the PS2! Also, the XBOX's DVD player looks a lot crisper than the PS2's dvd player, with a lot more features. Not to mention that the XBOX has a built-in modem for on-line gaming, the future of video gaming! With BOTH PS2 and gamecube you have to buy seperate modems. With XBOX you get it all, a built in hard drive, the ability to link up your systems, a much faster processor than either the PS2 or the gamecube, a built in hard drive to eliminate the need for memory cards unless you want to take your game data to a friend's house, and much, much more! I'm not saying that PS2 is a terrible system, in that it has a growing library of good games, however, many game companies have complained about how hard the PS2 is to program for which is why the XBOX is also getting their own growing library of exclusive game titles. Also, like I stated earlier, sure the PS2 has a larger library than the XBOX currently, but, the first year's games are HORRIBLE, and the XBOX is also catching up with the PS2 on the gaming titles. By the end of 2002, the XBOX will have a gaming library close to the number of titles on the PS2. As for gamecube, nobody produces high-quality video games like Nintendo does, (The gameboy advanced is the best portable video gaming system ever produced) However, lately, Nintendo's consoles havn't been able to meet the demands of a growing adult gaming population, as their games focus on children's titles like Mario and Zelda games. While there's nothing wrong with those games, it can get quite boring to play Mario all day long. The solution is simple, if you have a child, then definitely buy both a Nintendo Gameboy advanced AND a gamecube, (Both systems will be able to link up in the next few months) If you're an adult, I would defininitely recommend buying an XBOX over a PS2 (I own both systems, but the PS2 will be outdated in little over a year, while Sony works on it's Playstation 3 system to try and outsmart Microsoft) IGNORE THOSE WHO BADMOUTH THE XBOX, BECAUSE THEY DON'T OWN THE SYSTEM DESPITE WHAT THEY SAY AND THE PRODUCTS THEY DEFEND ARE SECOND RATE!
