Take the power and flexibility of a dedicated computer-gaming system and combine it with the easy-to-use, instant-on format of a high-end console system and what do you get? Well, if you also add in DVD playback ability and broadband Internet connectivity, you get Xbox. The advanced components inside Xbox make it the undisputed powerhouse among current game consoles. A 733 MHz Intel main processor and 233 MHz graphics processor from industry leader nVidia deliver photorealistic graphics in real time. A cavernous hard drive stores saved games and characters, making flimsy memory sticks obsolete. The built-in Ethernet port enables super-fast multiplayer online gaming over a broadband Internet connection. Four game-controller ports allow you and three of your buddies to play at the same time, or you can use them for other peripherals such as gamepads, light guns, voice-activated headsets, and who knows what else?
But Xbox has more going for it than fancy innards. The Xbox's Windows-based operating system is a breeze to program on, earning it grateful accolades from Electronic Arts, Infogrames, THQ, and other game producers. The less time developers spend struggling with the operating system means the more time they spend tweaking gameplay, which ultimately results in better games. And games are what it's all about.
Well, games and the fun of owning a green-glowing game console that looks like it came from Darth Vader's living room.
Buyer Reviews : The Xbox system is a work of genius in my opinion. The gamecube is not even in the same league, and the PS2 is lacking in quality games. Here's the bottom line:
PROS 1.Price-The XBOX has a great price of [money]for an xbox w/ 2 games. 2 games usually cost [money]on a xbox or ps2 so that's a great deal. Also, I heard while I was talking on xbox live that they may cut the price down to [less money] after xmas.
2.Game Quality- There has never been an xbox game that I have played that was simply horrible. 'Fuzion Frenzy' was close but that I played for more than an hour and a half before I returned it to blockbuster. With games like Halo, Unreal Championship, and NBA2K3 you can't say they have bad things out now. Also, they have planned for the future with a bunch of new Tom Clancy games, Halo 2(LOOKS GREAT), and more.
3.RAAWW POWER!!!- The Xbox has the best video card, hard drive, and more on a video game system currently out at the moment. The load time is seconds, not minutes unlike on the ps2 and the games look stunning.
4.Controllers(YEAH, and I'm not kidding, check this out!)- The Xbox has been known as the system with the 'bad controller'. Well, I'd like you to change your opinion and show you why I think they have the 'best controllers'. First of all, they have the best vibration. Second of all, if your using a big one you get used to it after a while and it puts me more into the game. Third, they have many different kinds and sizes. They have the original large xbox controller, the smaller and sleeker xbox s, other take-offs, and now you can even hook up a ps2 controller to an xbox w/ a special thing you can buy on the internet.
5.Online Gaming- The online gaming program XBOX LIVE is great. It has barely any lag, has a great communicator w/ optional voice masking, and is lots of fun. You can also download updates for the game like new maps, bug fixes, etc. The only 'problem' is you need to have a broadband connection which eliminates those who don't have one.
6.System Link- You can hook two or more xbox's up together not using the internet to be able to have up to 16 players all play eachother in a game. You have to have minumum 2 xbox's(use your friends), 2 of same system link compatable game, and two television's located pretty close to eachother as a minimum.
CONS
1.Grand Theft Auto- The only problem I've ever faced with the xbox is it will never have any games in the gta series which were a hit on the ps2 platform. This is because sony made a multi-million deal with the company that makes them so it will never be on xbox. If GTA were on Xbox, ps2 would almost no longer exist. GTA Vice City is a truly great game, and almost is as good as Halo.
2.Online Subscription Service- In order to provide you with the best online service, they charge you a subscription fee. The first year is included with the xbox communicator and they still havent released how much it will be after that....
