If you're just starting out with Pokémon, the object of the game is to explore the world and to capture and tame wild Pokémon (pocket monsters) through battle with your trained Pokémon. Winners are rewarded with badges, and the experience gained in battle makes their Pokémon stronger. The series has been a huge hit for the Game Boy Color, and Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire mark the series' entrance to the Game Boy Advance platform.
Like previous sets, the two games are identical to each other aside from a few exclusive Pokémon between them. There are some pretty big changes since the last game, however. First, trainers can now bring two Pokémon into battle instead of just one. This adds a new layer of strategy to battles since your Pokémon can complement each others' powers or cover each others' weaknesses. Also, these games have the known universe of Pokémon characters, including all of those from Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal editions, along with about 100 new Pokémon, which would put the total in the 350 range. And let's not forget that the GBA hardware allows for much-improved graphics, during both battles and exploration. As in Crystal, you can choose to play as either a boy or girl trainer. Pokémon is also a great game for connecting GBAs together. The Game Link cable will allow you to battle head-to-head against other players as well as trade with friends the Pokémon you've developed. --Porter B. Hall

Many people do nothing more than critisize Pokemon because of its reputation of a childs game. In my opinion the movies and episodes are what has not grown with its viewers. However the game is completely different. The first Pokemon games are what Made the Gameboy and Gameboy Color consoles so popular at first. I know this because these first Pokemon games are what enticed me to buy Gameboy, then crystal version came out and I wanted it so bad that I baught Gameboy Color just to have it. Now I purchased a GBA for the next two games and am surely planning to buy the Gameboy Advance SP so I can play these games in the dark at night.
The two games comming out now for GBA are going to be so superb and stupendus that I am going to buy them the day the come out (maybe not at Toys R Us). These games will have so much more capabilities than the first few games.
#1.There will be shadows to your character
I know this is not that exciting if your used to other consoles like Xbox and Gamecube or even Playstation 2 but for GBA this is a miracle.
#2.Reflections in water.
Again this is amazing the way they increase graphics.
#3.foot prints in changing seasons.
Just imagine you walking around in the winter time with footprints being left behind you in the snow.
#4.100+ pokemon and allows 2vs2 battles with 4 players at once, each controlling 1 pokemon making a 2vs2 with 4 people
Incredible advancements to the pokemon games. Im almost willing to bet these games will also keep life time. So when it is night in life it is night in the game and when it is day in life it is day in the game. Allowing you to only catch certain pokemon at night or at day making it more strategic and making you stay up late at night playing pokemon.
Overall I believe this will be one of the best pokemon games ever!
