I took a good sampling of both the XBox and the PS2. I would easily give BOTH 5 stars, so I think this review is unbiased. I eventually went with the PS2, but it was definitely a hard choice. Yes the Xbox has WAY better graphics for the games that require it-the often mentioned HALO is definitely in a league of it's own. However, don't forget, not all games REQUIRE the same scale of mindblowing graphics. I was never really a big first person shooter fan. I like RPG's and some of the sport games like SSX and GT3-which in all honesty don't neccesarily need the power of a supercharged system like the Xbox to give a nice scene. In these genres the PS2 has more than adequate graphics and MORE selection for my tastes. I know the Xbox has some real potential in RPG's in the future like Morrowind, but I find it's the story and not the pretty graphics in an RPG the thing that does it for me. I still get a kick out of Final Fantasy Chronicles for the PS1 that had some of the oldest graphics around, but a really nice story. If you like action, adventure, with mind blowing graphics-especially with a lot of shoot 'em ups and explosions, and don't mind the wait for your game library to build up, then the Xbox is definitely the best choice. If you like a good inventory of games with nice strengths in the RPG and sports genre's, the PS2 will more than fit the bill-after all, stuff like Hot Shots Golf...it's a cute game with the players all cartoony...so with more power in your processor you get...players that look..uh...more cartoony?
